Spring has sprung in Utah, beautiful warm days, cool breezes and some great thunderstorms thrown in the mix. The late snow and rain has made this desert the greenest it has been in a long-time, making canyon drives quite awing. There are three things in Utah that I think make it such a desirable place to live; the first, of course, being our world-renowned champagne powder and its easy access. Second being our rock climbing. Little Cottonwood Canyon is home to endless world-class bouldering routes and Big Cottonwood Canyon holds the sport, and trad, this is just in the 15-minute range. As many of my friends are well-rounded outdoor enthusiasts we have all been excited to get back out on some rocks. It is quite amazing that rock climbing blew up the way it did, at any level it’s worth trying out a really cool experience being so in tune with yourself and your movement, as well as with nature. If you like math and problem solving try out bouldering, if you’re more of the outdoors go-getter get into sport climbing and trad. Here are some pictures that truly capture the intensity and realness of rock climbing.
So amazing the places and views that you can get from scaling rock.
My old roommate Brandon and I got the chance to catch Core at a local movie theater bar downtown called Brewvies, best idea ever. Check out the trailer and if you haven't caught a flick at Brewvies, come hungry and thirsty this place is a true gem.
Some cool quotes "Anyone who lives within their own means suffers from lack of imagination." - Oscar Wilde " I also have in mind that seemingly wealth, but most terribly impoverished class of all, who have accunulated dross, but know not how to use it, or rid of it, and thus have forged their own golden or silver fetters." -Henry David Thoreau. If I have a recommendation it is to read some of Thoreau's work, in today's society we are so blinded money and assets, luxury, but what really is a luxury to you, all the money to work so hard for in a job you probably hate, for what, something that someone decided they wanted to sell so they inspired to you need it. Anyway, enough of that. Enjoy life to the fullest, however that may be.
